Costa Rei is a popular seaside resort located on the South-Eastern coast of Sardinia, and is part of the City of Muravera, 30 km away. It is also well connected with the main ports and airports on the island.
Renowned for its long white beach and crystal clear sea, Costa Rei has unsurprisingly been included in the popular travel guide Lonely Planet, as one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world, holding the fifth position.
Especially suitable for families with children because of the shallow waters of the sea, it is the ideal place for a relaxing holiday but also for various water sports such as snorkelling, diving, windsurfing and sailing. Excursions can also be made by bike, on foot or on horseback, or running.
The beach is within walking distance from every part of the resort. It is mostly free of charge but you can also find several beach resorts.
Once settled, it is also worth visiting the picturesque coves of Feraxi and the small beach of Porto Pirastu to the north, including the promontory of Capo Ferrato from which you can admire the entire landscape, or the famous “Scoglio di Peppino” (rock of Peppino) made of white granite and about 30 metres long, located at the south end.
The ideal time to visit Costa Rei is from May to October.
Costa Rei is also a part of Visit South Sardinia, a Destination Management Organization (DMO), founded in February 2013 by the will of the mayors of several municipalities in southern Sardinia Cagliari, Domus de Maria, Muravera, Pula and Villasimius. Visit South Sardinia operates the area in a synergistic and efficient way, promoting and enhancing the countless tourist resources of the destination.
Visit South Sardinia has passed selection to become one of the top 10 tourist destinations in the world to implement the program for the promotion of sustainability, and is recognised and supported by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
